About the Mashantucket Employment Rights Office

The Mashantucket Employment Rights Office (MERO) is an agency of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation (MPTN) formed by Title 31 of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Laws. The MERO administers certain Tribal labor and employment laws and programs on the Mashantucket Pequot Reservation (Reservation), including the following codified laws: Title 32, the Mashantucket Pequot Labor Relations Law (Labor Law), Title 33, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal and Native American Preference Law (Preference Law), and Title 51, the Mashantucket Pequot Family and Medical Leave Law (MFML Law). The MERO also educates various constituencies about the requirements and benefits of the laws, develops and implements processes for administering the laws, hears and decides certain cases, and implements certain aspects of select Tribal contracting programs.

The MERO does not represent any individuals or companies, but will help potential claimants, petitioners and charging parties to determine if they have a basis for an action before the MERO and will provide filing assistance. Any party may hire an attorney of their choice at their cost to represent them in MERO proceedings.
